What is coaching? Heather Millar Coaching Ltd provides one to one professional personal coaching services. Coaching is a conversation based approach to move someone from where they are now to where they want to be in the future. It is a non-advisory, nonprofession specific service that helps clients create clarity of purpose and direction

Empowering clients to find their own solutions, it encourages action to move forward to create successful resolutions. By challenging limiting beliefs, self-talk and automatic negative thoughts, coaching seeks shifts in thinking, behaviour, mindset and approach to generate lasting change.

What coaching is not. Heather Millar Coaching Ltd does not provide therapy, counselling or training services. In training the trainer holds the knowledge and imparts it to the student against a pre defined agenda; in coaching the clients holds the answers.

 Therapy and counselling delves in the past to try to understand emotional triggers to current problems. If the coach feels the client’s issue exceed the boundaries of coaching expertise, the relationships will be terminated and the client signposted to a more suitable service.

Mentoring. Mentoring is not the primary function of Heather Millar Coaching Ltd services, but leadership and management mentoring can be provided on specific request. Mentors require extensive knowledge and experience in the specific area being mentored to advise clients in professional matters. 31 years service in the Royal Air Force, from shop floor to senior officer, has equipped Heather Millar with top quality leadership training and experience from which mentoring services can be drawn.

Service delivery

Where? Coaching sessions can be conducted in 4 ways:

  • Video call by Zoom (default) or Whatsapp.
  • Face to face in the clients workplace (additional travel charges apply).
  • Face to face in coach’s home, Aylesbury.
  • Outdoors. A walk and talk service is possible upon request.

Coaching is not conducted in clients’ homes.

When? Heather Millar Coaching Ltd provides flexible coaching services to meet the needs of the client. Scheduling is discussed during the discovery session or can be arranged by email.

How long? Coaching sessions are one hour minimum. 90 minute and 2 hour sessions can be booked upon request with each extra half hour charged at half the hourly rate.

How much? The first no obligation ‘discovery’ coaching session is free of professional charges. Follow on prices start from £85 subject to the number of session booked at one time.

Payment. Payment is by bank transfer as per individual invoice.

Payment for each coaching session is requested in advance. Monthly payment plans are available for block bookings.

Late payments. Late payments will attract an interest rate 7% above the prevailing Bank of England base rate per month.

Cancellations. Life gets in the way sometimes and plans change. For that reason, cancellations up to 48 hours in advance may be cancelled free of charge. Sessions can either be rebooked or a full refund provided. Cancellations between 48-24 hours in advance will be charged at 50% and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at full rate. Confidentiality. Heather Millar Coaching Ltd offers client confidentiality within the coaching relationship with the following exceptions:

  • Declaration of the intent to hurt themselves or others.
  • Disclosure of having committed or intends to commit a serious crime.
  • Information emerges on modern slavery or human trafficking.

Insurance. Heather Millar Coaching Ltd is covered for public liability and indemnity insurance for coaching services with Balens Insurance policy.

Client responsibility

Clients should be committed to taking positive action to make improvements in life and meet the goals they identify as necessary to do this. Clients benefit most when they are open and honest as necessary to work with the coach towards achieving goals.

Clients are fully responsible for the decisions and choices reached during the coaching sessions.

Coaching is a comprehensive process, which may involve all areas of life including work, family, health, relationships, education and recreation; deciding how to handle any issues is the client’s responsibility.

Clients must inform the coach of existing therapy, mental health or substance abuse arrangements as well as advising their medical or therapeutic practitioners of the intention to work with a coach.
